Treatment

alt=ECCE with PCIOL

It stands for Extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation. During the procedure, the eye lens is removed, leaving behind the elastic capsule which is partially attached, in order to allow the intraocular lens to be implanted. The procedure is performed on patients suffering from uveitis, with the aim of improving their vision.

alt=Phacoemulsification

Also known as small incision cataract surgery, it is an advanced treatment option recommended for patients suffering from cataracts. An ultrasonic handpiece is used to emulsify the inner lens using ultrasound energy. This helps to break up the cataract to allow emulsification and aspiration. The handpiece vibrates at a fixed frequency and the power can be increased or decreased as per the requirement.

alt=Glaucoma Surgery

It is an umbrella term used for a group of eye diseases marked by partial or complete loss of vision, that is experienced as a result of damage to the optic nerve. This usually happens due to elevated optic pressure. Glaucoma surgery aims at alleviating this pressure, thereby preventing further damage. The surgery can be carried out via two approaches. Either by making an incision or by using a laser.

alt=Corneal Grafting & Other Corneal Surgeries

Commonly referred to as corneal transplant, the surgical procedure aims at replacing a damaged cornea with a new, healthy cornea, taken from a suitable donor. The procedure is further classified into two different types -  Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) and Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK). The transplanted cornea can have a life of up to 10 years.

alt=Oculoplasty

Also referred to as ophthalmic eye surgery, the procedure aims at enhancing normal eye function, as well as appearance. It is somewhat like plastic surgery that involves reconstructive procedures. The surgery aims at removing excess tissues from the areas surrounding the eyes, which include the eyelids, orbit and lacrimal system.

alt=Retinal Detachment Surgery

The surgery is performed to address the problem of renal detachment, which is marked by the misalignment of the retina. The aim of the surgery is to reattach the retina to the back of the eye. It is broadly classified into three different types, i.e. pneumatic retinopexy, scleral buckle and vitrectomy.
